During week two it was a lot more hands on stuff i was been involved in. I was learn what it was like to manage equipment and laundry, and i still had to get my work done for the baseball region so i had double duty.  I had to shadow their equipment manager around to see all the jobs that they do in a day. I can honestly say they dont get paid what they deserve. I Iearned how to wash uniforms so they can last atleast 4 years. To me this part of sports is the dirty work.Equipment managers have a bunch of task that they have to do with little help and resources you have to be creative.

As the days went on during the first week more work load was increasing. I had to finish the contact list by the end of the week for the tournament. During the first week I was getting to know everyone in the department.  Everyon was nice and  approachable. I was giving a desk with a computer and phone. I was kind of nervous the first week but I eventually settled down as the week went on.  The contact list consisted of the schools that would be participating in the baseball regional hosted by Wayne state but the games would be played at Eastern Michigan. Having to make a contact list for every school was not difficult but time consuming. I had to know there hotel information and inform them what time there practice time would be.

My first day, Monday May 7, Jason the associate AD took me around the facility
and explained how everything operates on a day to day base. During my short time
I became familiar with the facilities. He also showed me how to operate the
computer and enter information in the database. On my second day it was time to
work. When I arrived at 7:30am it was an agenda waiting for me. I had to make
phone calls regarding Wayne State hosting the baseball regional at Eastern
Michigan the following week. The rest of the week consisted of answering phones
and filing paperwork.

I started the first week of my internship at Wayne State. The athletic department is organized very professional. They take pride in their approach to athletics their main goal is to be the best in the GLIAC. Working at Wayne State I got experience been involved in many different areas of athletics. I did some office work, facility management duties, and equipment inventory. The Wayne State Staff was very nice the work setting was laid back and quiet. Everybody was approachable and it made a great working environment. My internship at Wayne State was short but very Knowledgeable to my experience and growth.
