INTERVIEW:
Jason Clark, Wayne State University Senior Associate Director of Athletics .
Background: Clark began his professional career in the MAC as a graduate assistant, graduated from
Bowling Green State University in 1997.He is in 12th year at Wayne State University and first as Senior Associate
Director of athletics after spending the last seven years as an Associate
Director of Athletics. Clark oversees the operations of all sports and provides
oversight for football, baseball, men’s and women’s swimming, and women's tennis
along with the Mort Harris Recreation and Fitness Center. He is married to former WSU softball player Rebecah Pierce and the couple resides in Oak Park with their children, Piercen and Lucy.
Industry Information:
He believed the best way to get into the sports industry is by internship opportunity and Grad assistant.
He also said to never limit yourself to one particular area of sports.(He was Director of Administration before he came to WSU from Bowling green)
He also said to get as many networking connections as possible.
Tips for aspiring students:
Dont think its going to happen over night.
Be prepared when the opportunity is presented.
Have fun with your career sports is suppose to be fun be excited.
